Work Description

All conditioned phenomena are impermanent; they arise and cease. When arising and ceasing have ceased, Nirvana is bliss.

                ——《The Mahaparinirvana Sutra》

Artist Statement

A painting depicting "the red dust" (mundane world): a robed figure sits in meditation, with animal bones nearby evoking desolation. This symbolizes impermanence, the cycle of life and death, and the illusory nature of worldly existence. The "red dust" does not represent prosperity but rather the realm where sentient beings cultivate through gains and losses, love and hate, birth and death.

One painting, nourished by clouds and mist. The robed figure walks away from the mist, symbolizing letting go of external pursuits and non-attachment to worldly appearances. They journey toward a pure, tranquil realm, nourishing the spirit with mountains, rivers, and clouds. The path ahead is vast and undefined, representing cultivation as an endless forward journey—a continuous process of settling the inner self.
