Work Description
"Defeng Bo":The storm is merely an external scene, notMustFear, NoUseAnnoyance. "Wind and rain" symbolize life's hardships; do not let adversity disturb your peace. Do not wait for sunshine or resent the rain—be at ease in the present moment. True stability does not come from outside, but from within.
"Viewing the Tide": The mist over Mount Lu and the tide of Zhejiang are not inherently miraculous; it is human longing and obsession that create their allure. Only upon witnessing them firsthand...FangAll things are as they are.
Artist Statement
"Defeng Bo"
Ignore the sound of rain striking through the trees; let's chant and stroll at our leisure.
Bamboo staff and straw sandals, lighter than a horse.
Who's afraid?
A straw cloak in the rain, I face life with ease.
The crisp spring wind blows away the last traces of wine,
A bit chilly.
The sun on the hilltop greets you with its warm glow.
Looking back at the dreary place we once passed through,
Go back
No wind, no rain, no sunshine.
Observing the Tide
Lushan mist, Zhejiang tides—until you arrive, regret lingers endlessly.
Nothing more to say when I return: The mist on Mount Lu, the tide of Zhejiang.
