Zen Realm No.3

Inspired by the Enso (a circle), a single, imperfect stroke of bold ink is painted on the interior wall of the vessel. The Enso is Zen Buddhism's most symbolic representation of completeness, emptiness, and enlightenment. Every variation in the brushstroke embodies the Zen spirit of "not relying on words."

The circle may look simple, but it is the most challenging stroke in Zen painting. It demands that the painter achieve perfect unity of mind and hand at the moment of contact—without hesitation or embellishment. When drawing a circle inside a vessel, the curvature of the inner wall actually becomes a natural aid.
